 Bro. Marty Tate was born and raised in Dunlap, Tennessee. He has been married to his wife Brandy since 1996. The Tates have seven children (5 boys and 2 girls) who are home-schooled. Bro. Tate has been saved since 1996 and answered the call to preach in 2002. He has been the pastor of Peaceful Valley Baptist Church in Rising Fawn, GA since 2003. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor's Degree in business in 1991 and subsequently served 8 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard as a Field Artilleryman (he has since recovered from both his college degree and his military service!). Bro. Marty owns and operates the family business (the Dunlap Restaurant) along with his mother Juanita.
Although Bro. Marty spent his childhood and young adult life (before conversion) in the Congregational Methodist denomination, he now identifies himself as an independent, separated, unregistered Baptist by strongly held conviction. He is an avid student of Baptist history, and of the contribution of the Baptists and other religious dissenters to religious liberty and the American Republic. His prayer is that God would raise up a generation of Christians in our day that are made up of the same stuff as those Baptist martyrs of generations past.
